FOUNDED IN 2015.
We’re on a mission.
We provide menstrual hygiene products to women and girls while educating and advocating to end the stigma of menstruation.
The Homeless Period Project was founded in 2015 with a singularly focused mission to provide menstrual hygiene products to homeless women living in shelters and on the street. After three years of volunteering in shelters, schools and churches, we recognize the problem of lack of access to menstrual hygiene for women is both tremendous and global. It is a problem that affects menstruation-age females of all ethnicities and in all communities. The obstacle to access exists in schools, workplaces and homes — even requiring some women to choose between food and hygiene.
In 2018, we expanded our mission to advocate on behalf of all women because the need is far greater than we first realized. This cycle must be broken.
The Homeless Period Project is headquartered in Greenville, SC. We’re changing the world one community at a time by creating awareness and delivering menstrual hygiene products to those in need in the tri-state area. We are part of a worldwide movement of similarly-focused NGOs and are accelerating the momentum by incubating ideas and exchanging mutual aid.
